The introduction leads your reader into the essay. The conclusion reminds your reader of the main points made in your essay and leaves your reader with a final impression and ideas to think about later. It might seem strange to think about writing your conclusion before you write the body of your essay, but unless you know where you are going you can easily lose direction. Also, the conclusion is the last thing the reader actually reads, so it needs to be memorable. We tried our best to create an effortless hiring process. 4 Common Types Of Essays You

4 Common Types Of Essays You Research does not just involve digital or written sources, but also other sources like interviews, podcasts, lessons and speeches. Remember that primary sources are more authoritative than secondary sources. It is the depth and quality of your research that will help you grasp the scope of the theme and the strengths and weaknesses of your argument. So don't hesitate to return to the instructor if you have to get all the facts straight. Remember, this is a skill that you will draw from in future, whether you take on writing as a career or pursue a different professional route. Therefore, practice the art of getting your objectives right from the beginning before embarking on the project. The title is the starting point of the process and this needs to be developed in such a way that you are able to systematically show the relationship between the whole and its parts. What type of evidence is required in a persuasive essay? It needs to be specific, with solid sources quoted as opposed to generic statements. For example, are you able to show how much damage is caused by using sleep medication and the statistics and tests that prove it? If so, you can start building your case from there. Therefore try as much as possible to remain meticulous in your review. This is the piece of writing that trains you further in developing your communication skills by increasing your reader's awareness with your knowledge and insight. Here, the evidence you use to back up the facts you present should be up-to-date and relevant. A personal essay should be structured in such a way that it provides an unbroken reviewing experience. It should be written in story form covering an incident or incidents that have occurred. These could be either situations which you have personally experienced or you have some personal knowledge about. Exposition is a process that begins by identifying the foundational ideas and facts and then analyzing the relevant research material. The goal of this essay is to deepen the reader's understanding concerning the subject. Your responsibility is to analyze the subject at hand systematically and then explain it by providing examples of the main points and giving proper analogies. So beyond just checking for spelling errors, you are looking for anything that could potentially put off the reader. One effective way of making sure you do not miss anything is reading the paper out loud and then correct accordingly as you move along. Use your personal essay to teach concerning the life lesson that you learned through your experience. When information is personal and firsthand, you have a much more authoritative platform from which you can impact your reader. Though the explanation is personal, it should also be in the language that a reader can understand and relate with. If what you are writing about is a unique experience, try to use ordinary events to describe it. This tends to be more informal and will contain narrative aspects as well as some entertainment value. What exactly is the difference between an analytical essay and an evaluation essay? Well, the latter moves beyond simply explaining what the subject is or how it works and delves into how valuable it is. Critical has its roots from the Greek word 'kritikus' which means 'to discern'. This is the essay that challenges the concepts behind an issue. Ensure that your thesis statement is not too long. Maintain logic and coherence and fluidity in the style you use for the reader to easily move from one point to another. When you reach the conclusion, restate the thesis in a summarized form. Remember, you do not have to be verbose to make the essay clear and interesting. The more objective and unbiased the opinions presented, the more credible the essay. Supportive facts, examples, statistics, expert opinions and other elements are key to making the essay a success.

Giving students the reading, writing and thinking skills required for a process like this is, to put it mildly, challenging -- for students and instructors alike. We’re asking students to give up certainties and formulae, to dive into the unknown. We’re taking away the safety of falling back on generalizations, personal experience and conventional wisdom. While your topic sentence should be limited to a single sentence, your elaboration can be longer. Together, these two or more sentences form your full statement of argument. Where you place your thesis in your introduction is up to you. Generally, I don't recommend placing it first, where context should go, nor in the last sentence. For example, if your topic is Star Wars, then your subject could be racial representations in Star Wars. If each separate argument fits tightly into an overall argument then attacking one idea means attacking them all. This is harder to do than criticizing discrete arguments that do not build on each other. Evidence â€" Again pretty self-explanatory, this is the stage in your paragraph where you provide evidence to back up your Point and Explanation. Now is the time to pull out your ammunition of carefully referenced sources to support your assertions that Your Point Is Important And Valid. Point â€" Present the main point of your paragraph. This will obviously vary in length, depending on the allocated word count of your essay, but should take between one and four sentences to introduce. As instructors, we also have to give up some control over our assignments. Based on your thesis, continue doing research, now with a focus on sources that support the thesis statement you have developed. Sites like JSTOR and Google Scholar are great places to find academic sources. Make sure that the sources you find support and develop your thesis statement. You may have to adjust how you convey those thoughts based on the length. Your essay should always have a beginning, middle, and end. 4-6 body paragraphs that provide evidence to back up your thesis. Each paragraph should be a cohesive element with an intro and conclusion. The body paragraphs should flow well from one point to the next. Once you provide your evidence, you need to discuss it. You must show how your evidence proves your argument. This means fully discussing the implications of your evidence and connecting it back to your topic sentence. Perhaps your paper exemplifies a larger thematic discussion or perhaps it should but that larger discussion doesn't exist yet. Either way, you can connect your discussion to others, demonstrating the larger importance of your specific argument. Conclusions need not be long arduous rearticulations of everything you've said. They can simply provide the final idea your paper leads up to . An essay built on such logic will be harder to attack. This part could take anywhere from hours to days. Background research is vital for the formulation of your thesis. Through background research, you can make connections between sources and discern which sources are most valuable to your topic. A transition sentence can conclude a paragraph in a number of ways. It can summarize the paragraph, connect the paragraph back to the thesis, or indicate how the next paragraph will follow. To eliminate redundancy, every paragraph should advance the essay further than the last. Organizing your essay means identifying the separate functions of each paragraph and understanding how each function fits into the essay overall. Each paragraph should have a separate purpose, just as each sentence has a separate function.

(Fang, 1996)If the statement by Mabel Segun is broken into fragme nts to understand and comment upon its meaning. The very first part says Illustrations are Literature in their own right, which is very true as when literature is defined, it says it is any piece of written creative work, it would not be wrong to call Illustrations literature because they, like words convey an idea and are a piece of creative work. Illustrations do sharpen the perception of children, Segun describes this phenomenon, that children are immediately attracted by visuals, they recognize their parent's face and can distinguish it with others, in the same way, they start comprehending visuals first. It works as stimuli for brain and stresses the cognitive function of the brain.Well-designed illustrations help in understanding data. In narrative fields, such as childrens stories, fairy tales or biographies, they typically enhance the reading (or listening) experience and facilitate comprehension. Levin proposed four traditional primary functions for pictures, they are deco rational, representational, organizational and interpretational. (Levin, 1981) As the name decoration suggests, these pictures simple adorn the texts, they add extra aesthetic value to them. On the other hand, representational are those pictures that portray or represent the text, they are usually scenes or incidents happening in the text, as in The Tale of Peter Rabbit, Peter is seen in the illustrations with all his mischiefs. Organizational pictures illustrate a framework for the content present in the text, it could be a map or plan, and usually such pictures can be seen in science books. Interpretational pictures are those pictures which help to make texts more comprehensible. There is another function of pictures which is more of an unconventional characteristic. They are called transformational pictures, such pictures help in enhancing the memory by helping the reader recall the text. Transformational pictures are seen to be used for learning the vocabulary of a second langua ge. Many organizations insist on implementing picture books along with other tools so that students achievement in any area shall be improved. Picture books are great instructional sources for children.Picture books are the first step in childrens exposure to learning before they get involved with the text. Pictures help children recognize colors, shapes names of people and other things around Picture books have given birth to graphic novels and hybrid novels. Picture books can be useful for any age but for young children they are very important as they enhance childrens fondness for the books. Agosto, D. (1999).Picture books sometimes show what is written in the text but at times, they act beyond that by suggesting a lot of meaning and ideas. If Voices in the Park by Anthony brown is analyzed, the pictures speak way beyond the text. It is apparently a simple story, which is made more attractive and credible by visual representation. Some small sentences are present to narrate the s tory but it is with the pictures that the real essence of the story is narrated. Browne through pictures depicts the point of view of four characters in a park. Sentences narrate the story, but the problems faced by the characters would not have been understandable without the pictures, females arrogance could not have been portrayed rightly without the pictures, the text which indicates that the mother is not happy to see her child playing with another child, does not reveal the reason that why she is upset, but it is through revealed through illustrations that it is the social status of female which makes her behave like that as she does not want her child to mingle with someone from a low social background. The writer uses Impressionistic art to reveal the theme, there are four voices in the story which depict four point of views and lives. Through pictures, writer portrays a different season while every voice is sharing his/her own point of view. Seasons depict the situation an d how things change when situations change, mother is representing autumn around and when kids and dogs meet in different scenes, their happiness and feelings are depicted by spring, as soon as mother takes her son away from the other kid, winter season is shown in pictures, which shows how mother, (autumn), changes spring of kids into winter.Theory of surrealism is also depicted through illustrations in Brownes picture book, Surrealism means pictures are represented to depict subconscious images of characters. When Smudges voice is narrated, the pictures are shown according to what is in her subconscious, she sees the world in dynamic images, with fruits and colorful images, she also sees Charles mother with angry looks and flowers that were originally present on her hat in an awkward position. This theory is generally used as a tool for mockery in Literature. When the girl and her father are returning home, there are mixed images of happiness and sorrow around them, which depicts what they are going through and are thinking at that moment, such as Mona Lizas picture full of sorrow depicts their plight. Moreover, Browne has utilized the tool of illustrations very aptly because he does not portray the characters as human beings but gorillas, this is because he wants to move out any similarity of the characters with any race or class of human beings. As readers could relate them to specific class or race if they were human. Another important aspect of illustration in this picture book is the use of different shapes and lines to emphasize the point. There is an illustration where the girls father and the boys mother both are present, the writer has drawn a pole in between them to show demarcation, fathers side is cluttered with garbage and mothers side is clean depicting their status. The writer has even given font size the characteristic of an illustration by changing size and type of font to symbolize the ...

The First Amendment Uncensored Speech - 857 Words

The First Amendment: Uncensored Speech Centuries ago in American society, individuals were not granted the free will to act and speak freely. First Amendment rights allowed citizens to do so. On a historical outlook, the oppressed fought for the rights of various groups in the United States. Although laws and situations evolve, groups in America continue to face inequality and issues with freedom of speech. There is room for further improvement; freedom for all citizens needs to be fulfilled. The impression of being free is what gives the United States the ideology of being a part of a democracy. Secondly, minorities exercise First Amendment rights when they peacefully protest on unconstitutional or immoral acts. Groups like, the Black Lives Matter advocates for justice, social equality, and equal rights groups are silenced. Opposing groups believe protest is not protected by the First Amendment (freedom of speech and assembly elements). People protest on issues that impact their culture, for example, players in the NFL have been recently protesting against the national anthem. Players are either locking arms, refusing to stand, or not showing up on the field during the anthem. Most players are refusing to stand in response to Colin Kaepernick s ban to stand during the national anthem in late August of 2016; others are boycotting in response to President Donald Trump s remarks on the league s protest. Citizens of the United States who oppose the NFL s protest- view it as a disrespect to the country and its military retirees, veterans, and the country’s fallen soldiers and find it offensive . Meanwhile, people who support the protest suggest that it is an act of freedom of expressing their First Amendment right and outcry for oppression. Legality of Physician Assisted Suicide and Ethics Luz Garcia Taunton University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Abstract Physician assisted suicide is defined as a doctor intentionally killing a person by the administration of drugs, at that person’s voluntary and competent request. Research has been conducted in different countries to determine under what conditions this practice is acceptable. Most health care practitioners agree that this is only suitable when the patient in question is suffering from a terminal illness. For Assessor 2. 4 Describe ways to ensure the individual can summon help when alone during personal care. There is wide range of personal alarms and other emergency response equipment available to those who live on their own, and they can take many forms . Some might depend on someone being nearby for example in another room or next door Telecare alarms, known as community alarm services, are very useful for people who live alone. They work through a base unit in your home, which is connected to your phone line. You can press a button on the unit or on a pendant that you wear around your neck. This connects you to an operator who can arrange the help you need. Some telecare alarms have movement sensors that can detect if someone has fallen and cannot get up, or leaves a certain area. Those alarms will be activated automatically, so the person does not need to do anything to summon help. Another device worth considering is the mobile phone, these can be programmed with emergency contact numbers, at least one of which could be entered on speed dial, so that all the person at risk has to do is press a certain number, ie, 1, on the keypad.
